Introduction: Kelly Neville

The UW hockey team is a self-funded student organization that practices and plays at Laramie Ice & Event Center. The team has a $40,000-$50,000 budget each year. Team recruitment is going well. The players go to different showcases to watch for new players and visit junior hockey leagues. The team has 30 players, representing 12 states.

The team did a 14-day cultural and athletic exchange to China. During that time, the team had games against various teams in China, helped with youth clinics, and went on cultural visits.

The team worked with the Global Exchange Office on the trip. They had to fundraiser and plan the travel, visas, and itinerary.

The trip helped expand UW’s global footprint. This was the largest delegation from UW to another country and the first UW club sport to visit another country in this capacity. It was the first trip out of the country for 17 people on the trip. It included both faculty and students.

The goals of the trip were to expand hockey in China, build sustainable relationships internationally, and form lifelong connections. The trip was leadership in action and worked on ethical decision making.

The team is working on having the Chinese students visit Laramie and hosting a youth camp and language program. They also hope to expand the idea to other countries.

The team encourages you to attend their games. They have about 400 people at each game. Tickets are on sale now for the season.

Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do:
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and
  Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All
  Concerned?

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
