Introduction: Tim Eisenhauer

The Platte River Veteran Flycasters is part of a connected group of flycasters across Wyoming and Colorado. It was started by Dwayne Cook, a veteran and Cheyenne teacher.

The group of veterans build fly rods, learn to tie flies, and go fishing. They have fly rod building kits. Each new member starts by building a fly rod in the fall. Then, in the spring they learn to tie flies and then go fishing.

Marty Martinez helped the group get state-of-the-art equipment, through his role in veteran’s services at UW.

The group meets once a week on Thursday evenings at the old Game & Fish building in West Laramie. Veterans come from UW, LCCC, and WyoTech, as well as the community.

There are four goals: a fly rod, fly ties, fishing, and camaraderie. There are 600 veterans across Wyoming and Northern Colorado that are involved. It is open to all veterans.

WyoTech is a big supporter. There is a net group and several instructors. The group has helped members with PTSD, brain injuries, and other injuries. They help with issues and provide personal experiences.

Each person that goes through the program receives a fly rod, line, tools, and other goodies.

Their main fundraiser is a banquet at Little America in April 6. Tickets are $90 each or $1,250 for a table of eight.

Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do:
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and
  Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All
  Concerned?

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
