Program: City of Laramie Planning Commission, Chris Moody

Introduction: Murray Schroeder

Chris Moody is a public member of the commission. They mostly deal with land use and zoning. The City Council oversees the planning commission, which also works with the planning department. The department processes all the plans and makes a recommendation to the commission.

The commission can approve, reject, or amend the recommendation. The planners do a great job. If approved, the item can go onto city council for final approval, or in some instances, the commission is the final decision.

The commission pays attention to growth plans, stormwater, and the Casper aquifer. A liaison from city council attends their meetings.

The commission is seven community members. It is a volunteer position with a three-year term. There are no necessary qualifications to apply.

The commission is privy to many reports and background information from the city. It meets twice monthly. It also reviews municipal code changes.

Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do:
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and
  Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All
  Concerned?

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
