Introduction: Todd Pearson
Amanda was happy to see everyone. She can’t believe how time has flown since her exchange in Laramie. Amanda is now a high school graduate.
During her last year of high school on the economics track, she was part of the UF youth business for a senior project. This is popular across Europe and allows high school seniors to run a business as a school project.
Her team came up with an idea, handled all the accounting, and marketed the product. Their product was Dienaci – Fossil Free Steel Jewelry. The name has French and Latin roots. These are 3-D printed bracelets. It’s a very innovative product because it is a new Swedish innovation using hybrit-technology.
Amanda’s team pitched the concept three times before they were allowed to use the technology. They started in March and made $11,000 in the first three days and sold out of the product.
Amanda’s team went on to win the local competition and regionals. They went to nationals and had a great experience. They made it through to the top four and placed second.
Amanda noted that her experience in FFA really helped her prepare for this experience and encouraged future exchange students to join.
Graduation is different in Sweden. It starts with a champagne breakfast, followed by a ceremony at the school. Then it is tradition for all the graduates to run fast out of the school.
Then each class drives around town in a parade. All the students wear overalls.
Amanda is starting law school at Uppsala University in the near future. She is also traveling to a business event in Italy, and in two weeks, the senior project business will be an official legal company. Amanda has been visiting schools to encourage seniors to get involved with the entrepreneur program.

Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do:
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and
Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All
Concerned?
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
