Introduction: Terry Moss

Laramie is the only essential service airport in Wyoming. If 10,000 people use Laramie service, the airport receives $1 million to help keep the commercial service going. There have already been 12,786 passengers through September.

The current flight times are not ideal. It is 12 roundtrips per week. The airport does not have a lot of pull with the times, and it is impacted by the loads.

Laramie Regional Airport is working on a master plan. They are working on the airport layout and the possibility of a business park. They are putting money aside for a business plan for local customers. The master plan will include many different perspectives.

The plan will include a large hangar to bring in planes for the winter. This can produce income for the airport. It will also include a sustainability plan, as currently the city and county both help significantly.

The airport will change the lights to LEDs. They will be bright and bring electric costs down. It is a $1.1 million project.

There will be new fire rescue. The airport has a fire department, and they need a new truck on the field. The employees are all trained as fire fighters.

This will be the first year de-icing the runway, so hopefully this will increase traffic. This will be done sparingly because it is expensive.

One challenge is that the airport handles UW football charters, but that tax base then goes to other communities for lodging since Laramie doesn’t have enough hotel rooms. The airport is working with Laramie tourism to see if they can put a hotel out at the airport.

Rental cars are also an issue since they are not at the airport. Hilton, Toyota and Turo have started to help with this.

The fixed base operator is a big revenue stream. A longer runway would be helpful to take more diversions and raise more money.

The airport just finished its FAA annual evaluation. Things are in good shape and the staff is great. Runways are in good condition, with some pavement needing to be replaced. They are working on money for a jet bridge.

Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do:
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and
  Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All
  Concerned?

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
