Program: Trihydro, Jack Bedessem

Introduction: Don Prehoda

Jack Bedessem is the CEO and president of Trihyrdo. The company has 480 employees in 20 locations.

Trihydro started as a startup in 1984, under two founders. The first project was in Illinois at a petroleum refinery, which is still a working site today.

From 1986-1995, it was a great time to be in the business. The company built strong relationships and had steady growth. During this time period, the remaining founder retired. The ownership transition took about 18 months.

From 1996-2000, the economy fell flat, but Trihydro managed to avoid layoffs. During that time, 50 percent of the company’s revenue came from one client.

From 2001-2007, Trihydro worked to evolve by going through a strategic planning process. The company established a structure that promoted growth and diversification. The company adopted the Code of the West.

From 2008-2010, the recession led Trihydro to go through another strategic planning process. The company was proactive with clients and also went on a hiring spree.

From 2011-2016, the company went through its first acquisition. There have been 5 in total in Trihydro’s history.

In 2017-today, the company has celebrated 35 years in business. It has several offices around the country, and 96 percent of its business is from repeat clients. Eighty percent is private clients and 20 percent is government.

Trihydro has seven business units across 42 teams with between 20-85 employees per unit. The company does business in 44 states.

Local projects include: the overpass project at Harney Street; the City of Laramie landfill; and the connected vehicle pilot program. Trihydro won an award for the overpass project.
