Program: Cyber Security and Emerging AI Issues in Your Office, Laura Baker, Cyber Wyoming

Introduction: Tony Hoch

Laura Baker talked the club about cybersecurity and how to handle AI in the office. The benefits of using AI include saving time and money, help with writing, image creation tools, tools for meetings, multipurpose help, automation, and research.
You should always evaluate the safety of AI. First, ask the AI platform what information it takes and saves from conversations. You should also look through the company’s privacy and security policies. Often these AI products have also been reviewed by security experts.

Businesses should check on what information is sold to third parties. It is important to know what personal data collection and sharing takes place. Never put in any private info or private business information. Pay attention to any opt-in and opt-out options and only use vetted plugins. For cookies, select the option that notes “strictly necessary.”

Thirty-eight percent of employees that use AI admit to sharing sensitive work information without the employer’s knowledge. The percentage is higher with millennials and Gen Z.

For business policies, decide on your risk tolerance. Select the AI tools you are willing to use and note how these are allowed to be used, who can use them, and what employees should never do. Work through how to train employees, how to handle intellectual property and customer data.

Never create copyrighted material in AI. Always use 2-factor authentication to prevent being hacked or getting locked out of accounts.

  Concerned?

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
