Program: Lincoln Opera Project
Introduction: Jan Lawrence
The Lincoln Opera Project came to sing for the club. The group consists of Krista, Jeremy, Hailey, Trey, and Regina.
Their performance is an introduction to opera. Often opera is long and in other languages, but these are micro-operas.
The group performed on June 20 at the Cooper Center for Performing Arts. There were no tickets, just donations to support the Ark.

The collection of five operas were performed at the event for about an hour’s worth of songs. They were all in English and show the humor of opera.
The group provided tidbits for the club. Hailey performed Habanera from Carmen in French. It is an aria where she sings about love and heartbreak, while eyeing a new love interest.
Trey performed the Farmer’s Cursed Wife. This is from a folk repertoire of 15 different folk songs set with accompanist.
Finally, Krista and Trey performed a small scene from The Telephone. Lucy is too busy to notice her boyfriend has a secret because she can’t get off the phone.
Response: Tyler Valentine
‘Response: The Rotary Club of Laramie will make a donation to the public library children’s book fund in the speaker’s name.
NOTE: We Do Not Donate a Book!
Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do:
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and
Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All
Concerned?
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
