Program: Planning for Rotary Year

The meeting started with a networking session for members. This is going to be more of a regular thing at the request of the membership.

Jamie Terry provided a June 30, 2022, Rotary update. The meeting attendance average for June was 33.95 percent, but we were up to 45 percent last week.

We currently have 85 members, with one June resignation, three pending resignations, and no new members. The resignation was Larry Struempf.

The bylaws are in the process of a cleanup with small revisions.

Jamie Terry will present the budget soon. We will be eligible for district grants for the upcoming year. We do have a budget shortfall in FY23.

There are certain parts of the regular budget that have been reduced or removed to help with the budget shortfall.

Suicide prevention was reduced, as well as ShelterBox. Some of the removed items were Dine & Discover, Relay4Life, Coats for Kids, Read to Feed, and Rotaract/Interact.

The fundraising need this year is $10,500. We need to work and explore this in order to balance the budget.

Rotary dues totaled $13,436.60 for FY22-23. Ideas for increasing our fundraising easily are more Paul Harris Fellows, points for service projects, the club foundation, happy money, and setting up a fundraising committee.

Jamie is working on a committee list for 2022-2023. Let her know if you are a committee chair and are willing to remain on. All Rotary members will service on at least one committee.

There are currently several empty committees, so we are looking to scale back or combine committees. You will receive a survey to sign up.

Committees will meet, have specific responsibilities and descriptions, and there will be a reporting process.

Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All
  Concerned?

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Response: The Rotary Club of Laramie will make a donation to the public library children’s book fund in the speaker’s name.
