Program: Laramie Jubilee Days Recap, Dave Hansen & Jaime Stine

Introduction: Keith Downey

Wyoming’s hometown celebration was started in 1940 to celebrate 50 years of statehood. It began as a horserace on July 10, so every Jubilee Days following has incorporated July 10 into the dates.

Jubilee Days has happened every year but in 2020 due to the pandemic and the state being shut down.

Laramie Jubilee Days is a 501c4 and has a board of 14 volunteers.

Events include: rodeo and horse events, a chili cookoff, bull riding, the Calcutta, a jalapeno eating contest, street dances, street festivals, the parade, the carnival, and sponsorship golf tournament.

Other community events that happen around Jubilee Days are Brewfest with Laramie Mainstreet, the family fun night with the Epson Center for Seniors, the pancake breakfast with the Laramie Soup Kitchen, an ice cream social, an art festival, a mechanical bull area, and a throwback baseball game.
In 2020, there were record sales at the carnival with an increase of $3,000. The street dances were very popular, and the event had 110 parade entries. The PRCA rodeo had a sellout crowd for the first time.

Jubilee Days relies on sponsorships from the community. There is a reception for sponsors and former board members that was just brought back. Sponsor benefits also include: parking, tickets, a hospitality tent dinner, and the golf tournament.

It functions by levels, and Jubilee Days has 10 sponsor levels. They start at $250 and go up to more than $15,000.

The top-level sponsors have been Tom Wolfe with Premier Bone & Joint and Visit Laramie.

There has been a great increase to the higher levels in recent years. There were 27 new sponsors in 2022, which equates to about $66,000. There were 107 total sponsors. In 2022, this raised over $200,000.

Expenses also increased putting Jubilee Days at a $290,000 budget. In-kind donations help with this, as well as ticket sales and carnival money.

Laramie Jubilee Days is looking for volunteers to help on committees and to assist with day-to-day help. If interested, you can contact volunteers@laramiejubileedays.org.

Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All Concerned?

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Response: The Rotary Club of Laramie will make a donation to the public library children’s book fund in the speaker’s name.
