Marianna Aiex Gomes Fernandes is from Marilia in the area of Sao Paulo in Brazil. She is 16. Mari’s family is one older sister, her parents, her grandma, and an aunt and uncle. Her city has a population of 240,000. It’s known for its medical college and its food industries.
Brazil is the largest country in South America and the fifth largest country in the world. Brazil includes the largest portion of the Amazon rainforest, and is a largely Portuguese-speaking country.
Brazil celebrates birthdays similarly with cake and desserts. They also have specific snacks. Mari wears a t-shirt uniform to school and enjoys theater class back home.

In Laramie, she has been to Snowy Range a few times and joined the alpine ski team. She tried horseback riding, shooting, and tennis. She enjoyed football games, but they are not as good as soccer. She also liked pumpkin carving.
Mari likes to listen to music and go listen to bands. She plays the drums. She likes to read, play sports, and weight lift.
In Brazil, the school year starts in February. Mari did half of her junior year in Brazil before coming to Laramie. She will return in the middle of her senior year. College is based on an exam instead of other components.

Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do:
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and
Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All
Concerned?
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
