Introduction: Keith Rittle

The mission of the Downtown Clinic is to deliver free, high-quality healthcare services to uninsured individuals and families experiencing poverty in Albany County, Wyoming, through innovation, compassion, and community collaboration.

The Downtown Clinic was founded in 1999. In 2025, it served 430 patients and had 4,000 appointments. Already they are up 10% in appointments from last year.

The clinic has 4 full-time employees, 10 part-time, and 50+ volunteers. DTC provided $1,460,900 in services in 2025, averted hundreds of ER visits, and dispensed 4,710 prescriptions.

Everyone deserves healthcare, whether they are insured or not. There are 3,000 people in our community that would qualify for services. DTC is one of 1,400 free clinics in the U.S.

DTC helps with a trickle effect through preventative care and vaccinations. They accomplish small victories over time. DTC offers primary care, specialist clinics, nursing, medication dispensary, social work, counseling, referrals, garden therapy, fresh food distribution, and more.

It also has a dental program and mobile clinic. The mobile clinic is able to help with mental health and social services, as well as primary care.

DTC focuses on all the issues impacting the patient. Currently, the dental program is an emergency program, so all visits are reactionary. They are working to extend this to be more preventative, since it is so important to overall health.

DTC relies heavily on community support. More than 450 local donors contribute to resources to improve healthcare in our community.

DTC is one of the smallest free clinics in the U.S. that has seen great sustainability. Pete said this is because our community is different and so supportive.
