Duck Race Presentation: Becky Maddox

This year’s duck race is on June 30 at Optimist Park. The free pancake breakfast starts at 9 a.m. with ducks in the water at 10 a.m.

This is the Laramie Rotary Club’s main fundraiser. The proceeds raised go to our many projects including: Polio Plus, Shelter Box, Downtown Clinic, Relay for Life, Coats for Kids, sports teams, the public library, and many more.

Becky needs volunteers to be ticket sellers at booths, duck counters, duck wranglers, pancake flippers, and park activity facilitators.

Introduction of Program: Megan Goetz

Barb Fukova our Youth Exchange Student gave her presentation on her year in Laramie. Barb is from the Czech Republic. She has a family of five. Her hometown is about 5,000 people. The original spot where Budweiser beer was developed is in the same town where Barb goes to school.

Barb arrived in Laramie on Aug. 16. She first lived with the Baker family. She attended Rockies games and learned to make Rice Krispie treats. She also saw the eclipse, visited the Oregon Trail sites, went to UW games, and went to the hot air balloon festival in New Mexico. She visited Devil’s Tower and Mount Rushmore.

Food was also a big part of her experience. She had her first American hamburger and went to Casa Bonita.

Barb was on the dance team at Laramie High School. She also enjoyed participating in swing dancing while here.

Barb’s second host family was the Goetz’s. While with them, she went on a trip to Hawaii through the exchange program and also went to Mexico with the family. Barb and Megan took a girl’s trip to Philadelphia and New York.

President Tim presented Barb with a flag to take back to her home club.
